Biography
Semisonic is an American alternative rock band that formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1995. The band is composed of vocalist/guitarist Dan Wilson and bassist John Munson who joined up with drummer Jacob Slichter after their previous band broke up. The band released an EP on an independent label in 1995 prior to signing up with MCA in 1996.
The band got their big break two years after forming up with the release of their second album, Feeling Strangely Fine. The album was able to reach the Billboard Top 50 Chart powered by their biggest hit single, "Closing Time". The album eventually went platinum for sales of over a million copies. Their other single, "Secret Smile" fared well in the UK Charts which further improved sales of their album overseas.

Trivia
Semisonic was first known as Pleasure but the band has to change it since the latter name was already being used by a death metal band.
