Biography
Atreyu is an American metalcore band that hails from Orange County, California. The band first formed in 1998 initially as a punk band when the band members were still students at Esperanza High School in Anaheim. The band then started out playing live performances on the local music scene before they were signed up by Victory Records in 2001. The band then released their first album in 2002.
The band then followed their first offering with The Curse which was released in 2004. The second album sold over 300,000 copies. In 2006, the band’s third album, A Death-Grip on Yesterday was released and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 Charts for selling 69,000 copies in its initial week. Their fourth album, Lead Sails, Paper Anchor, was produced under a new label and was released in august of 2007. The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 Charts, selling 43,000 copies in its first week. The band is currently touring to support their album.
