Biography
Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band that hails from Westfield, Massachusetts. It was formed in 1999 the result of the disbandment of two bands, Overcast and Aftershock. Killswitch Engage was discovered by its first label Ferret Records as it was on tour with other bands. They then released their self-titled debut album but did not do well commercially.
In 2002, the band released their second album under a new label. Making a new music video for their single "My Last Serenade" enabled them to get more exposure. This led to the album peaking at number 37 on the Top Heatseekers Chart. Their biggest success to date was on their third album, The End of Heartache.
Released in May of 2004, the album peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 in its first week. The album went on to sell over 500,000 and was certified gold by December of 2007. Their single of the same name was also nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 47th Grammy Awards.
