Biography

30 Seconds to Mars is an American alternative rock band hailing from Los Angeles, California. It was formed in 1998 by actor Jared Leto and his brother Shannon as a small family project. But things started to get better that they decided to make it into a more functional band.

The band released their first self-titled album in 2002 and was able to sell just over 100,000 copies. Their next album, A Beautiful Lie, was released in August of 2005. The band followed it up with three years of playing in four continents to hone and perfect their sound as well as allow their front man Jared to continue his film career. Their persistence paid off. Along with heavy airplay on MTV2, the band was able to get nominated at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards and win for their music video "The Kill". This led to their album selling over a million copies and garnering platinum status.
