Iron Maiden is an English heavy metal band that hails from Leyton in London’s East End. The band is considered as one of the most successful and influential bands in the heavy metal genre. The band has been able to sell over a hundred million of their albums worldwide.

Iron Maiden was formed by bassist Steve Harris on December 25, 1975 after he left his previous band, Smiler. The band went through several line-up changes early on and even on the ensuing years when the band became successful. The band never recorded any of their songs up after three years of playing as a band. It was on December of 1979 that the band was able to sign up a record deal with a major label.

The band’s debut album was released in 1980. it reached number for on the UK Albums Chart on the initial week of release. It was on Iron Maiden’s third album release, The Number of the Beast, that gave the band their first UK album chart topper. This was followed by other successful albums that followed a highly successful world tour that gained the band further international success. The band’s success went on way into the 90’s that also saw them releasing commercially successful albums that were also well received by fans.
