ZwanZwan was an American alternative rock super group that was composed of members from the bands, The Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle, Slint and Chavez. It was formed by former Pumpkin member Billy Corgan in 2001 after the group disbanded.

Corgan joined forces with drummer jimmy Chamberlin and guitarist Matt Sweeney. They also recruited bassist David Pajo to complete the band. Another member, Paz Lenchantin was recruited in 2002 to play bass and Pajo was relegated to doing guitar duties for the band.

Zwan started by playing some low-key shows around California and eventually toured around small clubs until 2002. The band was able to only release a single album, Mary Star of the Sea which was released on January of 2003. It contained songs that are mainly of the pop and alternative rock genre.

Zwan’s only album was received well by critics and was even recognized by some critics as one of the best albums to come out of 2003. The album debuted at number three in the US Charts but eventually declined in terms of poor sales. Its two singles "Honestly" and "Lyric" were the notable hits in the album with the first single able to peak on the seventh spot of the US modern Rock charts.

But just as the band was doing their promotion for their debut album, tension began to build up among the band members. The tension became so magnified up to a point that the band had to cancel most dates of its scheduled European tour. This led to Pajo going on a solo tour with Paz Lenchantin later on leaving Zwan to join him.

In September of 2003, Corgan finally announced that the band had broken up. Corgan later on commented of the band’s breakup as having been brought upon by sex, drugs and lack of respect between the band members themselves.
