Staind is an American alternative rock group that hailed from Springfield, Massachusetts. The band was formed by vocalist Aaron Lewis and guitarist Mike Mushok in 1995. They took time to establish themselves as a band though extensive touring of the Northeast with other established metal acts. The association helped them sell over 2,000 copies of their self-released debut album in 1996.

The bands big break came when they were at a show opening for Limp Bizkit in 1997. Fred Durst, singer of Limp Bizkit was blown away by their live act that he exchanged phone numbers with the band. With Durst’s help, Stained snatch a record deal Flip Records and went on to make record their first studio album. The band went on to make a total of five studio albums to date, with three of them debuting at the number one spot on the Billboard Charts. Overall, the band has sold over 15 million albums worldwide.

Stained was almost kicked out of the show that they were playing with Limp Bizkit. It was over an argument on the cover art of their first album with Bizkit singer Fred Durst. But when Durst saw the band’s show, he changed his mind and even befriended the band.
